The Dorchester Spa… A 5* Experience!

by Lucy Hilson 18. February 2014 10:25
I recently tried out the Aromatherapy Associates rose oil massage at the Dorchester Hotel and it was quite simply one of the best treatments I’ve had! I loved absolutely everything about the whole experience and enjoyed every little special touch that the hotel offer its spa guests, I always think the little things make such a big difference and the Dorchester didn’t disappoint.… This was a five star journey from start to finish. From water infus... [More]

Getting hot in the hammam… what a dreamy way to spend a morning!

by Dalila Salgueiro 17. February 2014 18:11
Last weekend I experienced the most incredible spa treatment… a traditional Moroccan hammam. The spa I went to is tucked neatly away just out of Chiswick, and what a secret gem it is. A bright and early start at 9am on Saturday morning, I had no idea what was in store for me - what a way to begin a weekend… There was no waiting around, I was taken straight to my therapy room, stripped completely bar some paper panties (!) and wrapped up in a so... Vegetarian or Flexitarian?

by Dalila Salgueiro 6. February 2014 05:17
This year I'm becoming vegetarian, yes vegetarian. It’s been almost a month without having meat or fish and, even though it sounded easy in the beginning, truth is that it has been really hard so far. After reading New York’s best-selling book 'Skinny Bitch', I finally found the last bit of courage I was needed to take up the big decision but there were some “little” things that I didn’t consider at that time. The f... [More]

Last night we attended a Spa Business Association networking event at The Sanctuary. As always it was great to catch up with the great and the good of our industry, swapping insight, tips and knowledge. It was lovely to have the evening held at The Sanctuary Spa, closing down in May - it is a fabulous venue with a great history and will be missed.

Lidl tackles obesity in latest PR stunt

by Harriet Warwick 23. January 2014 10:57
Stats were released this week that half of the UK will be classified as obese in 2050. Pretty hard hitting headlines. Supermarket chain, Lidl, responded with their ‘Healthy Checkouts’ PR stunt that is sure to be a hit with parents and the media. The ‘Healthy Checkouts’ scheme has lead to the removal of the usual chocolate bars, sweets and crisps at the tills and instead these sweet treats are replaced with fresh fruit, nuts and seeds. This st... [More]

Because you deserve it….

by Lucy Hilson 17. January 2014 09:11
Today we’ve been discussing one of our favourite topics… sugary and sweet treats! Now, we know it’s January and detox season/healthy eating month, but at the Spa PR HQ we believe that a little bit of what you like is extremely good for you, your body and your mind. Not only can a sugar fix every now and then help you stick to a longer healthy eating lifestyle but can also make each working day that little bit more enjoyable! This week, our Frid... [More]

My Pilates Obsession

by Dalila Salgueiro 15. January 2014 07:09
Think about it, your body can be your very own portable home gym. Why spend a fortune on exercise equipment when you have the weight of your body as your biggest tool? This year all the fitness trends are moving far away from expensive equipment and regular (sometimes boring) weight training. Now what’s ‘Hot’ and the latest craze is to work out your body with your own weight, and be able not only to control your body but your mind too. If you ar... [More]

Top Tips for a healthy spa & salon business

by Tracey Stapleton 14. January 2014 17:08
1. Relight the passion. If you started your business some time ago, think back to the beginning and remind yourself of why you set it up and what you had hoped to achieve from it. 2. Set time aside each month to think about your business and plan ahead. Quite often we get caught up with the day to day running of the business which can stall development. 3. Involve your team. Everyone within your business has a role to play in its success and sh... [More]

by Lucy Hilson 20. December 2013 05:05
Last week at Spa PR we had our annual Christmas outing! Being the spa lovers that we are, this year we enjoyed the delights of afternoon tea at the Sofitel St James’ (and amazing treatments at various spas, blog on those to follow). As we made ourselves cosy in the hotel’s festive looking ‘rose lounge’ we were greeted with a tasty rose champagne cocktail and an selection of delicious teas to enjoy. A live harpist played as we sat and soaked up th... [More]

Demi or Koala?

by Dalila Salgueiro 9. December 2013 18:56
Yoga, Pilates, tennis, anti-gravity yoga… I’ve tried almost everything in my search for a workout that not only helps me to achieve a great body, but keeps me excited enough to make me go back for more! That’s why when I read a review on Healthista about pole dance classes, I couldn’t resist trying it myself. Last week, after convincing one of my friends to join me for a class, we enrolled ourselves into a fun, but also quite painful experienc... [More]
