Last weekend I had the pleasure of visiting Lifehouse county spa resort in Thorpe- le-soken to experience the spa’s signature treatment – The Private Oriental Bathing Experience.
After spending the afternoon wandering around the 12 acres of picturesque, listed gardens and learning about the history of inspirational people that used to visit the Lifehouse (including Winston Churchill) my friend and I headed off to the spa. After trying out the Jacuzzi, series of heat experiences and pool, we made our way to the exclusive ‘By Invitation Only’ private OBE room…
The OBE experience is inspired by the centuries-old tradition of the Oriental bath house; an intrinsic feature of Asian culture as a means of relaxation, health and wellbeing, focusing on the therapeutic effects of water. The two hour journey combines a series of traditional massage techniques including reflexology for the feet, bathing pools, water rooms and full body exfoliation. The treatment is completed with an essential oil and therapeutic hot stone massage to reinvigorate the senses and leave you in a state of utter relaxation… and it doesn’t end there, at the end of the experience you’re led to a private sleeping pod where you can just close the curtains, dim the lights and drift off to sleep – not a difficult task after such a relaxing and mesmerising treatment!
After a brief snooze in the sleep pods, we headed to Water Lillie’s restaurant for a delicious three course meal…The food was simply amazing and the apple tart was without doubt one of the best I’ve ever tasted. Overall the whole Lifehouse experience was excellent and I cant wait for my next visit!
